6 Steps to a Stellar Big Game

By Kansas City Steak Company Tags : entertaining,  game day

It may be the middle of winter, but Kansas City barbecue isn’t the only thing we’re fired up about this week! Here in the heart of the Midwest, we bleed Royal blue… and red for our sports teams. It’s been a long fifty years, but 2020 is a great year to take home the trophy!

You may not be up close and personal to cheer our boys on as they go toe-to-toe with San Francisco in Miami on Sunday, but in honor of our hometown heroes we’ve whipped up a game day party “how to” you won’t want to miss. Read on for 6 Steps to a Stellar Big Game.

1. Get your head in the game.

If you’re rooting for the other guys…well, you’d probably best scroll on past this step. What better way than to get your cheer in gear by sporting a little Fountain City fan-wear? Choose a traditional football jersey, or snag a new favorite sweatshirt from a local favorite.

2. Light a fire in your belly.

Without a great menu, the big game is just another Sunday night football game. No matter who you’re rooting for, fire up your grill and serve great flavor with some authentic Kansas City barbeque, our signature 34 oz Tomahawk Bone-in Ribeye or our crowd pleasing Kansas City Strip for your main entree. If “tailgate style” is more your thing, choose between USDA Prime Steakburgers or All Beef Jumbo Hot Dogs. Order online today and choose Next Day Delivery, or if you’re local, come on by our Kansas City retail store.

3. Raise a glass.

You can’t toast the top teams without a frosty beverage! Make sure your fridge is fully stocked with all your favorites – and something for everyone. Tip your hat to San Francisco and stock a favorite ale from the area. If you hail from our neck of the woods, choose your favorite KC brew. The best big game parties have a wide assortment of beverage options, from beer and wine to soft drinks, iced tea and bottled water.

4. Know the details and plan accordingly.

Don’t fumble something important! Know your details: kickoff is at 5:30 PM CST, but you’ll want your people gathered to tune into the pregame show long before that. If you’re on grill duty, we recommend that you serve a late lunch so you won’t miss a single down! Make sure to have plenty of snacks and finger foods on hand as the evening progresses. We guarantee you won’t want to step away from the main event once the ball is in play.

5. Make a friendly prediction.

Buy a simple trophy or prize and make the big game a little more entertaining. Encourage your guests to make a prediction for who will win and the final score. Have each guest write their name and prediction on a piece of paper and put it in a bowl. When the game is over, the guest with the accurate (or closest) prediction wins the prize!

6. Celebrate sportsmanship.

In all the hype and hoopla, it’s easy to understand why intensity can reign with such an important title at stake. Don’t forget to enjoy the day and relish every moment with those around you. These teams worked hard to make it to this point, and they deserve to enjoy every minute. Support your team, but recognize the effort, dedication, sweat and tears every player, team and coach has put into this season.

Tell us in the comments below, who are you rooting for?
