4 Ways to Ring in the New Year with KC Steaks

By Kansas City Steak Company Tags : entertaining,  holiday

The year is coming to a close. And no matter how ‘interesting’ the last year may have been, you probably want to start this next year strong.

In other words, you most likely have some planning and resolution to do.

Now, for the super organized who have managed to survive the last few months by planning and prepping for the New Year, feel free to weave the following into your plans.

That said, the ideas below just might inspire a few changes…

For the rest of us – or those still cleaning tinsel out of exciting and unexpected places – here are some meal planning ideas to start the new year.

Whether planning for a few small, quiet family dinners or the first holiday hurrah, these ideas should add a little extra kick to your kick off.

Side note: Baby, it’s cold outside, and we’re not grilling out there every night. So, we’ve focused these ideas on indoor cooking.

  • Try beef wellington. Nothing suggests winter coziness more than a Super Trimmed Filet Mignon wrapped in a light, flaky puff pastry. We’d call it an elegant pot pie for adults, but that’s just a tad too insulting to its deliciousness.
  • Pan sear a T-Bone. You might not be willing to bear the cold but your taste buds still crave a seared steak. Pan sear your steak in a cast-iron skillet, then transfer to a preheated 450-degree oven and cook till it reaches desired doneness. It’s simple. And delicious. And amazing. And…well, you get the picture.
  • Roast away. Whether ringing in the New Year or just wanting an excellent, protein-rich dinner, it’s a great time for slow roasting a brisket. There are too many great ways to prep, but low and slow is still the best path to tender beef. As an added benefit, the whole family will gather around the oven for the warmth and the smell.
  • Stay in your PJs and let us do the cooking. Let’s be honest, your “work out every day” goal will likely fade by the second week of January, so enjoy a day of laziness and let us do the heavy lifting. Try our Bone-In Hickory Smoked Ham which can be served room temperature or warmed up in the oven. As an added bonus, you can use the leftover bone for your favorite homemade ham and bean soup.

Bonus round: Wondering what to do with that leftover steak?  Just stew it.  Now is a great season for any steak and potato combination. And stew is the rule this time of year, not the exception.

We hope these ideas inspire many joyous meat-eating memories in the year to come.

From all of us at The Kansas City Steak Company, Happy New Year and cheers to the best year yet!
