Five Fun Resolutions for Foodies

By Kansas City Steak Company Tags : grilling tips,  steak recipes

With the start of each new year, it’s customary to make new resolutions about changes you want to make, or things you want to do differently. Saving money, health, exercise, self-care and dietary changes are all familiar choices, and for good reason! The new year is an excellent time to start fresh and shift focus as we bid farewell to the previous calendar and turn the page on a fresh new one.

That being said, we wouldn’t be your go-to source for everything you need to know about steaks, steak recipes, or grilling steak if we passed up this opportunity to share Five Fun Resolutions for Foodies.

1. Broaden Your Steak Recipes Repertoire

Set a goal of trying new steak recipes a few times each month. Plan ahead and put steak nights on the calendar. Choose high quality cuts, and opt for recipes that will stretch your skills. Pair your steak entrees with innovative sides, and don’t forget to document your results! You may be cooking for your closest crew for a little while, but that is all the more reason to hone your grill skills this year.

Add one (or three) of our favorite steak recipes to your “must try” list:

2. Craft Your Signature Surf ‘N’ Turf

This year, why not put your foodie skills to the test and discover your own signature Surf ‘N’ Turf dish? At the very least, you’ll have the opportunity to try some delicious recipes, and at best you’ll find the perfect seafood to go with your steaks.

Typically, Surf ‘N’ Turf involves steaks and shellfish, but don’t let that limit your creativity. Choose your favorite cut of steak, and pair with one of our favorite seafood recipes, or add your own!

3. Make a Steak “Bucket List” for the Year

Even foodies can fall into a food “rut.” When you find steaks you love, it makes sense to stick with what you know. In the spirit of discovery, make a Steak Bucket List for your year. Be sure to list all cuts of steak, and plan to cross a new cut off your list each month. Don’t forget to include Filet Mignon, Ribeye, Kansas City Strip, Top Sirloin, Porterhouse, T-Bone, Flat Iron, Tomahawk, Picanha, Bone-In Cowgirl Ribeye, Center Cut Ribeye Filet, and Ribeye Cap; there’s one for every month of the year!

4. Get Your Steak Grilling “A-game” On

Every steak lover is familiar with the labor of love a grill-master invests to serve up a truly great steak. If there’s one thing we know, it’s that all it takes to ruin great steaks is a lousy grill game. As a self-respecting foodie, why not resolve to make the most of your grilling experience and take your skills to the next level this year?

There are hundreds of tutorials, classes and articles to help you grow your grill skills, but start with one or all of our great resources:

5. Expand Your Experience

Foodies love a great dining experience, and this is a great time to learn how to recreate a great restaurant experience at home. Plan to recreate a dinner from your favorite restaurant or steakhouse at home every month, and pull out all the stops. Cue the music, mood lighting, and menu, and make it an event you’ll always remember. For a few ideas on how to orchestrate the ambience at home, check out one of these great articles:
